FAQs

What issues can counselling help with?

Counselling can support you through many life challenges like stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, burnout, grief, life changes, feeling overwhelmed, self esteem struggles, or just wanting personal growth. Together, we focus on what matters most to you, moving at a pace that feels safe and comfortable.

What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is simply a chance for us to get to know each other. We will talk about what brings you here, what you hope to achieve, and any background you feel comfortable sharing. There is no pressure to tell your whole story, we take things gently and at your rhythm.

Do I need referral?

No referral is needed. You can book directly and start your journey whenever you are ready. If you prefer to come through a GP, support service, or NDIS plan, that is perfectly fine too.

How long is each session and how many sessions will I need?

Sessions typically last 50 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged if needed. Everyones journey is unique – some people find a few sessions helpful, while others prefer ongoing support. We will check in regularly and make decisions together based on your comfort and progress.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. Sessions are available both in-person and online. Many clients enjoy the flexibility of online support. If you are joining from interstate or overseas, please keep in mind we work in Brisbane time (AEST).

Is everything I say confidential?

Absolutely. What we discuss stays private. The only exceptions are if there is a legal or safety requirement.

What therapeutic approaches do you use?

Your sessions are tailored to you. We blend evidence based approaches such as trauma informed counselling, mindfulness, somatic practices, lived-experience leadership, cognitive approaches, and holistic techniques – all chosen to meet your unique needs.

I have had negative experiences with counselling before; is it okay to be unsure?

Many people arrive with hesitations or mixed feelings. You are welcome exactly as you are. We focus on building trust, moving gently, and creating a space that feels safe, collaborative, and empowering. Often, it takes a couple of sessions to feel in sync with your counsellor and that is completely normal.

What if I become emotional during a session?

Your emotions are welcome in this space and will be held with compassion and respect. You can pause, slow down, or take breaks whenever you need.
